Prevent burn-out with a private screening!
Spot the signs and take care of your employees
Burn-out, also known as occupational exhaustion syndrome, can emerge after someone has been exposed to situations of intense stress for many months. Since the workplace environment is often to blame for this, a good employer can take action to prevent this condition – through healthy management practices, goals that are genuinely attainable, tasks that bring fulfilment and pleasant working conditions. They can also arrange a regular private screening to forge closer bonds among staff and create more of a social connection between them…
How can you spot the signs of burn-out?
Burn-out, which is a serious state of mental, physical and emotional exhaustion, is characterized by 3 types of symptoms:
- Extreme physical and intellectual exhaustion: employees’ ability to think clearly disappears, straightforward decisions become impossible to take, they start to forget things, conversation does not come easily, they’re constantly panicking…;
- Complete loss of empathy and de-humanisation: their sense of humour vanishes, employees’ behaviour changes and they succumb to outbursts and fits of rage, their relationships with their colleagues deteriorate…
- Loss of interest in their work: absenteeism, repeated errors and careless mistakes are all warning signs of burn-out for any employer who cares about the wellbeing of their staff.
How can employers support their employees?
As the best ‘tool’ for preventing burn-out, a good employer must emphasize the human factor in their managerial policy: appreciation, dialogue, cooperation, autonomy, a friendly and supportive environment… They must also set goals that are specific, measurable and achievable, within realistic deadlines: if given reasonable guidelines to follow, employees avoid the pressure that comes with being overloaded with work.
The prevention of burn-out by the employer can also be achieved by providing fulfilling work, that brings meaning and is carried out in pleasant conditions (with, from time to time, a private screening to encourage greater team bonding): to do this, they must listen to their employees by offering them regular one-to-one chats, so that they can spot any difficulties as quickly as possible and list any potential grievances.
Treat them to a private screening!
As part of the task of preventing burn-out, an employer can organise, from time to time, a private screening for their staff: a night out that will make them feel special and where they can unwind and break free from the daily routine.
Better yet, if you include all of the company’s teams in the outing, you’ll help to create social bonds between them and you’ll strengthen their sense of belonging to the company, helping them to become employees who take genuine pride in working for a firm that really takes care of them…
In other words, a private screening is an outing that will do you ‘a world of good’ and that is bound to reduce the risk of burn-out among your employees!
